VTech Killer's Parents Hospitalized With Shock, Some Students Forgive Cho

Apparently Cho Seung-Hui's parents have been hospitalized due to shock. That's what happens when you don't raise your kid right. Actually, I guess I don't know they did a poor job parenting; but one can assume something went wrong when they raise America's worst mass murderer.

Meanwhile, students at VTech are being better Christians than I ever could, and actually forgiving Cho. I envy their compassion. The day of the shooting I said a short prayer for the victims and their families and friends, but try as I might, I just could not pray for the disgusting individual who killed them.

However, I will continue to pray for all those affected, and hopefully one day I'll be able to pray for and forgive Cho for his disgusting actions.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Before you all go out to get completely wasted tonight, take a minute to read about the "man behind the green beer," the true reason for the holiday, St Patrick. The article's from Slate, but its surprisingly not complete crap.

Ah, and to think, in Boston the Dropkick Murphys are having an awesome St. Patrick's day concert right now...

Hannity Doesn't Understand Church Teachings

Apparently Hannity doesn't understand Catholic teachings. This makes me sad; I always new that he wasn't the greatest thinker, that his show was a feel good talk show (as opposed to Limbaugh, who has substance). Here's Hannity arguing with a Catholic priest about birth control:

Assuming you know anything about Catholic theology, you know Hannity is way off. The priest might have pointed that out had Hannity let him get a word in.

Hannity keeps spouting Scripture like some bible-thumping Protestant. Apparently he doesn't realize the Church has been given the ability to interpret Scripture to help Catholics lead a more moral life. The old Testament tells us that God is against birth control; he actually kills Onan for "pulling out" early. As a Catholic figure, Hannity shouldn't be acting like a man of the Faith while at the same time going against Church teaching. No one said being a Catholic was easy.

Hannity shows his misunderstanding of the issue when he says the Church allows birth control, doesn't it father, referring to natural family planning, the process of following a woman's ovulation cycle and having sex at times when pregnancy is least likely. This isn't birth control! This is embracing part of God's nature and limiting the chances of pregnancy! Birth control is having no self control and having sex whenever you want to, "consequence" free, by using artificial methods.

Hannity needs some more theology lessons. Just because he disagrees with, or doesn't understand, Church teachings doesn't make them wrong. It makes him a flawed human (which we all are) who either needs to study theology further to come to terms with these issues, or pick a new religion that lets him create his own dogma, something he apparently thinks he's entitled to do now.

John Edwards and Jesus

John Edwards is talking about Jesus, which as any conservative knows, Democrats + Jesus = foot-in-mouth disorder.

The moronic thing that Edwards said:

Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards says Jesus would be appalled at how the United States has ignored the plight of the suffering, and that he believes children should have private time to pray at school.
It's nice to have some Freudian proof of John Edwards' lack of belief in Jesus. And where is that proof you ask? In his wording: "Jesus would be ..." Anyone who actually believes in the Risen Lord, Jesus Christ would have said, "Jesus is no doubt appalled ..."

Just another example of some secular humanist Democrat invoking Jesus in the Bible Belt because they think that the people there are so dumb they'll think, "Hey, I like Jesus too. I should vote for this guy."

Bryan over at Hot Air says about this quote:
Keep in mind that among the rationales for the Iraq war is that it would alleviate the Iraqi people’s suffering under Saddam. Keep in mind that Edwards chides America for ignoring the suffering of others. Keep in mind that Americans are consistently the most charitable people on the planet. And keep in mind that Edwards thinks the Iraq war, for which he voted, was unnecessary. America ignores suffering even though it leads the world in charity, but goes to war unnecessarily to alleviate suffering, and that’s also bad. Keep all that in mind. Congratulations! You have cognitive dissonance just like John Edwards!
I think Democrats should just follow their guts and avoid Jesus.

Miracle Baby Comes Back From The Dead

It's a slow news day, so here's a miracle to read about:

After trying for 30 minutes to bring two-week-old Woody Lander back to life, doctors decided there was nothing more they could do and called in his parents to say their tearful farewells.

A nurse passed Woody to his heartbroken father and gently pulled a tube from his mouth so they could kiss him goodbye.

It was then that the miracle happened. The lifeless baby suddenly coughed and moved. Nurses immediately grabbed Woody back, re-attached the tubes and lifesaving equipment and he came back to life in front of his astonished parents.

He's now 14 months old and perfectly healthy.

Angry Christians Beat James Cameron

Over at Ace of Spades HQ, Ace puts the difference between Christianity (any religion really) and Islam in perspective:

Angry Christians Shout "Christ Is Risen" As They Beat James Cameron For Making Jesus-Is-Dead Film

—Ace

Oh, wait, I got that headline wrong. Muslims chant "Allah is great" while beating a director for displaying the barbaric practice of "honor" killings.

So easy to make that mistake, you know? I mean, it's hard to keep track of which religion it is murdering people this week. It's always changing.

Anyway, they rioters claim that the director misrepresented the region they came from by depicting it as filled with "honor" killings and general "honor" violence.

Post here. Read the whole thing. As usual, Ace is enlightening and at the same time funny as Hell.

Miracle in New York

Just a reminder that God does care:

Daniel Walker was on his final lap jogging in his high school gym class when he collapsed, his flawed heart giving out on him.

Days later, his heart at a standstill, kept alive by a bypass machine, it began beating again. The 17-year-old's parents called it divine intervention. His physicians were no less amazed.

"I've been a surgeon for 10 years, and this is probably one of the most incredible things I've ever seen," said Dr. Abeel Mangi, one of Walker's cardiac surgeons at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia.

Walker's father described his son's recovery in spiritual terms. "God turned around, put His hand on my son, and recharged him," said William Walker, 58, a retired sanitation worker.

His son's ordeal began Jan. 19 when he collapsed in gym class. The younger Walker suffered from a rare congenital heart flaw that left his coronary artery pinched, giving him only 10 percent of normal heart capacity. He was shuttled to two hospitals before finding himself at Columbia, waiting for a heart transplant, attached to the bypass machine.

Walker's cardiac surgeons said they could not account for the young man's recovery.

"It's a miracle," Mangi said. "There's really no other way to put it."

Two days after it began to beat on its own, surgeons were able to fix the flaw in Walker's heart, increasing its capacity to 60 percent.

Oh look liberals, science failed to save this kid.

RoP: 'We Drink the Blood Of The Enemy'

More from the "Religion of Peace" in the UK:

At a recent debate over the battle for Islamic ideals in England, a British-born Muslim stood before the crowd and said Prophet Mohammed's message to nonbelievers is: "I come to slaughter all of you."

"We are the Muslims," said Omar Brooks, an extremist also known as Abu Izzadeen. "We drink the blood of the enemy, and we can face them anywhere. That is Islam and that is jihad."

How lovely. I can see how liberals sometimes get confused and say Mohammed had the same message as Jesus.

Can A Catholic Be A Democrat?

By: Shane

I was recently given a book called " Can a Catholic be a Democrat?" To tell you the truth, I probably won't read the book (although I hear good things about it), because it's bound to be 220 pages of "no."

Is this a question that really needs asking, "can a devout Catholic be a faithful Democrat?" I think we all know the answer. The Church has 5 non-negotiable issues. Any candidate that supports these issues cannot be supported or voted for by a Catholic, simple as that. To do so would be a sin. What are these five non-negotiable issues? To list them off sounds like one is reading the Democratic platform: embryonic stem cell research, gay marriage, abortion, euthanasia, and human cloning.

Notice the absence of "war for oil," the death penalty, and tax cuts.

The Dems have continued to support embryonic stem cell research, despite the fact that it has yet to show any hint of promise for curing diseases, because it furthers their baby-killing agenda. Life is cheap to liberals, and to create any benefit from the destruction of unborn life is to further prop up their barbaric need for what is ultimately the "right" to promiscuous, risk-free sex (aka, abortion).

The Dems have shown again and again that, against the will of the US public, they will support gay marriage with every ounce of effort they posses. Many feel gay marriage cost John Kerry the 2004 election. Dems have no respect for the institution of marriage and will sell it out to any and every gay, bigamist, or animal lover that will give them a vote.

As far as abortion goes, the Dems have religiously protected this "right" (and that's about the only thing they'll do religiously) since the first woman was "forced" to kill her unborn child with a coat hanger. The Dems put this issue above all else, and will not budge on it. They flat-out support the murder of unborn children.

The Dems showed us all a while back that euthanasia wasn't just a dream of theirs when they had Terri Schiavo starved to death against her mother and father's wishes. Adding to the "can a Democrat be a Catholic" argument, they wouldn't even allow a dieing Schiavo a measly crumb of Holy Eucharist.

Can a Catholic be a Democrat? Sure. But will that Dem be a Catholic in way other than name? Certainly not. The Democratic party's platform is almost in complete contradiction to the teachings of the Catholic faith (with the exception, perhaps, of Catholic Social Teaching, which fits perfectly due to it's heavy borrowing from Socialism). All five of the Catholic church's non-negotiable issues seem to be taken directly from the Democratic party's platform. To vote Democrat is, in almost all cases, wrong and against Church teachings. "Catholic" politicians such as Nancy Pelosi (D, CA) and Jennifer Granholm (D, MI) should be excommunicated for their support of abortion.

Can a devout Catholic be a faithful Democrat? Absolutely not!

Round Up

I'm in a hurry for now, so here's a few links to some stories that caught my eye:

An article from the NYT: Fatah Holds Rally in Gaza City Stadium,

One from al-Reuters: Polish archbishop resigns in spying row

One from Independent online, staying with the Roman Catholicism theme: Spanish bishops fear rebirth of Islamic kingdom,

and our friends over at LGF with a story of Political Correctness run amok in France: Breaking: Pork Soup Racist Again in France.

Hope this will do for now. I'm off to play some racquetball now, and I'll try and post more in depth later on tonight.

A Christmas Greeting From Al-Zawahri

Hat tip to LGF for this video from Scrppleface. Funny, but a good message, too. Wouldn't the world be better if we were all Christians? The world will never be perfect, but there's no denying it's be a better place if everyone just loved God and one another:

Pope Benedict XVI Arrives In Turkey

Say a little prayer for the Pope, who's in Turkey now, where every Islamic Radical wants him dead.

You can find transcripts of his speaches here (hat tip: Wispers in the Logia).

Mary Katerine Ham over at Townhall has a good post on the visit:

The pontiff emphasized the importance of religious freedom in a meeting with a Turkish Islamic cleric:

“Freedom of religion, institutionally guaranteed and effectively respected in practice, both for individuals and communities, constitutes for all believers the necessary condition for their loyal contribution to the building up of society,” the pope said following talks with Ali Bardakoglu, chief of Turkey’s Religious Affairs Directorate.

Benedict has made religious freedom one of the centerpieces of his papacy, and has complained about countries denying full rights to Christians.

The cleric fell back on an old stand-by. "Islamophobia!"

Bardakoglu, at a joint appearance with the pope, said that growing “Islamophobia” hurts all Muslims.

“The so-called conviction that the sword is used to expand Islam in the world and growing Islamophobia hurts all Muslims,” he said.

I wonder where anyone would get that idea.

Here's some more objective coverage from Allah and Robert Spencer (here, here, here and here).

Philanthropy Expert: Conservatives Are More Generous

Not that I'm surprised, but a new study finds that "religious conservatives donate far more money than secular liberals to all sorts of charitable activities, irrespective of income."

That's because we know our treasure is in Heaven, not on earth. Secularist liberals need as much wealth as they can get so they can buy lots of stuff to please their hedonistic greed.
