Round Up

I'm a little busy on this three-day-thanks-to-MLK-weekend, so here's a round-up of the blogs and news:

Here's two stories from Reuters, one about those arrested Iranians in Iraq arming anti-US fighters, and the other about Rice saying that Maliki will be held to his promise on cracking down on those militias.

Speaking of Condoleeza, LGF has a post on Boxer's smarmy reaction to people actually being upset that she pointed out that Condoleeza was childless and alone on the Senate floor, and they also have a post on Muslims in the UK seeking even more special treatment.

Ace of Spades HQ has a post on the Mahdi army standing down and another post on how it is now more clear than ever that Sandy Burglar was destroying sensitive documents, not "borrowing them."

The Jawa Report points out that Ibrahim Hooper is a liar (What's new?), and finally, here's a hilarious video from Youtube:

Note: That is of course Barney Frank throwing a fit at the speaker's chair, but the two Republicans causing the comedy are, first Patrick McHenry and second, Joe Barton.

School Board Shows Sense

FEDERAL WAY - The school board in this suburb south of Seattle has restricted showings of Al Gore's movie on global warming, including requiring that it be balanced with an adequate opposing viewpoint.

The board also required Superintendent Tom Murphy to approve when the former vice president's film, "An Inconvenient Truth," can be presented.

The decision was sparked by complaints from parents who said their child was taking the film as fact after viewing it at school.

As someone who just had to watch that horrible movie in a geology class, and consequently watched his classmates swallow the movie's assertions without any reservation, I wish my professor would have to show the opposing viewpoint.

"Condoms don't belong in school, and neither does Al Gore. He's not a schoolteacher," said Frosty Hardison, a parent of seven who doesn't want the film shown at all.

"The information that's being presented is a very cockeyed view of what the truth is," Hardison told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "The Bible says that in the end times everything will burn up, but that perspective isn't in the DVD."

I agree with the overall opinion here, but am I the only one who thinks that guys a little insane?

Nancy Pelosi's Hypocrisy (maybe this should be "part 1")

What? Democrat hypocrisy? That can't be so.

House Republicans yesterday declared "something fishy" about the major tuna company in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco district being exempted from the minimum-wage increase that Democrats approved this week.
"I am shocked," said Rep. Eric Cantor, Virginia Republican and his party's chief deputy whip, noting that Mrs. Pelosi campaigned heavily on promises of honest government. "Now we find out that she is exempting hometown companies from minimum wage. This is exactly the hypocrisy and double talk that we have come to expect from the Democrats."
On Wednesday, the House voted to raise the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 per hour.
The bill also extends for the first time the federal minimum wage to the U.S. territory of the Northern Mariana Islands. However, it exempts American Samoa, another Pacific island territory that would become the only U.S. territory not subject to federal minimum-wage laws.
One of the biggest opponents of the federal minimum wage in Samoa is StarKist Tuna, which owns one of the two packing plants that together employ more than 5,000 Samoans, or nearly 75 percent of the island's work force. StarKist's parent company, Del Monte Corp., has headquarters in San Francisco, which is represented by Mrs. Pelosi. The other plant belongs to California-based Chicken of the Sea.
"There's something fishy going on here," said Rep. Patrick T. McHenry, North Carolina Republican.
During the House debate yesterday on stem-cell research, Mr. McHenry raised a parliamentary inquiry as to whether an amendment could be offered that would exempt American Samoa from stem-cell research, "just as it was for the minimum-wage bill."
A clearly perturbed Rep. Barney Frank, the Massachusetts Democrat who was presiding, cut off Mr. McHenry and shouted, "No, it would not be."
"So, the chair is saying I may not offer an amendment exempting American Samoa?" Mr. McHenry pressed.
"The gentleman is making a speech and will sustain," Mr. Frank shouted as he slammed his large wooden gavel against the rostrum.
Some Republicans who voted in favor of the minimum-wage bill were particularly irritated to learn yesterday -- after their vote -- that the legislation did not include American Samoa.
"I was troubled to learn of this exemption," said Rep. Mark Steven Kirk, Illinois Republican. "My intention was to raise the minimum wage for everyone. We shouldn't permit any special favors or exemptions that are not widely discussed in Congress. This is the problem with rushing legislation through without full debate."
A spokeswoman for Mrs. Pelosi said Wednesday that the speaker has not been lobbied in any way by StarKist or Del Monte.
I guess Ms. Pelosi doesn't care about hard working American families "just trying to get by" if they're employed packing and processing tuna.

Pirate Nation

Swedish file-sharing website The Pirate Bay is planning to buy its own nation in an attempt to circumvent international copyright laws.

The group has set up a campaign to raise money to buy Sealand, a former British naval platform in the North Sea that has been designated a 'micronation', and claims to be outside the jurisdiction of the UK or any other country.
Wow.

Everyone in Ireland Uses Cocaine Says Study

Shock:

DUBLIN (AFP) - Irish researchers found traces of cocaine on every single banknote contained in a random sample tested in a study of drug contamination of currency, Dublin City University (DCU) has said.

Researchers voiced suprise [sic] Thursday at the 100 percent figure, which compares for example to a recent US study which found two thirds of dollar bills tainted by the drug.

Every one of the 45 banknotes sampled tested positive for trace quantities of cocaine, according to the research results published in the Royal Society of Chemistry's journal, the Analyst.

Traces of heroin were also detected on three of the notes.

Okay. The significance here is?

"This is the largest sample of notes ever used in an experiment of this kind in Ireland", Bones said.

Is money hard to come by in Ireland? 45 notes is the largest amount ever tested?

Anyway, the story goes on to inform you that the "100 percent figure" is "shocking" about thirteen more times.

Nifong Wants To Be Removed From His Own Embarrasing Case

District Attorney Mike Nifong has requested that he have himself removed from prosecuting the Duke Lacrosse rape investigation, ABC News has learned.

A source close to the investigation said Nifong sent a letter to North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper asking his office to assume responsibility of the case.Calls to the Attorney General's office and Mike Nifong's office were not yet returned.

Three Duke Lacrosse players, Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty, and David Evans were indicted in 2006 on charges of rape, sexual assault, and kidnapping.

The rape charges were dropped in December after the accuser could not recall key details of the alleged attack.

Great, now if only he would have himself removed from office and crawl into the gutter where he belongs. Also, what this article means by "after the accuser could not recall key details of the alleged attack" is "after the accuser was proven to be a heinous liar with and agenda."

Democrats Protect Their "Culture of Corruption"

After the Democratic House passed new disclosure rules for earmarks, guess who tried to kill it in the Senate? If you guessed the Democrats, you're right!

7:34 pm - Update

Here's a good post over at Ace of Spades HQ that should have been in the original post outlining the Dems hit-job on the bill.

Redundant Headline - Vilsak Moronic Democrat

Tom Vilsak, former Governor of Iowa (I know he's still Governor, but today is his last day) is a Democrat who is officially seeking his party's nomination for President in 2008. Consequently, he is under the impression that we have been at war in Iraq for 5 and 1/2 years. Brilliant (I also like when he says, "It's not the United Stateses responsibility")! What that remind me of?

Oh yeah, Silvestre Reyes, the new Chairman of the Select Committee on Intelligence (and therefore Democrat) Showed his amazing knowledge of foreign affairs awhile back:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Rep. Silvestre Reyes of Texas, who incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has tapped to head the Intelligence Committee when the Democrats take over in January, failed a quiz of basic questions about al Qaeda and Hezbollah, two of the key terrorist organizations the intelligence community has focused on since the September 11, 2001 attacks.

When asked by CQ National Security Editor Jeff Stein whether al Qaeda is one or the other of the two major branches of Islam -- Sunni or Shiite -- Reyes answered "they are probably both," then ventured "Predominantly -- probably Shiite."

That is wrong. Al Qaeda was founded by Osama bin Laden as a Sunni organization and views Shiites as heretics.

Notice that he ventures a wild guess, rather than admitting that he doesn't know (as LGF pointed out back then.)

Pelosi picked Reyes over fellow Californian Rep. Jane Harman, who had been the Intelligence Committee's ranking member, and Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida, who had been impeached as a federal judge after being accused of taking a bribe.

(Rush Limbaugh used Pelosi's choice of Reyes over Harman a bit ago to demonstrate and example of Queen Bee Syndrome.)

Anyway, I'm rambling here. My point is that Democrats have no idea what they're talking about and trying to debate Iraq and terrorism with them is like trying to explain Anselm's Ontological Argument to a five-year-old.

Good Night and Good God

Anyone still under the impression that Kieth Olbermann isn't insane? Feel free to check out Hot Air's handy work showing him as the psychotic "anchor" he is:

Video: Olbermann’s special comment — the condensed version

I like the end. "Good Night and Good Luck" Then you can hear him thinking, "Get it? Do you get it guys?"

That video would be funnier if he weren't so full of himself and didn't oooze self-satisfaction at every syllable.

Nature Can Be a Bitch

Speaking of funny stories about animals I hate dying:

Ralph the whale shark, a star attraction at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, died suddenly in his tank of unknown causes, aquarium officials said.

Can you imagine being in the crowd or what-have-you when their Whale Shark died? I would have paid a good deal of money to have been there.

Unfortunately, it's one tragedy after another in Georgia:

The 22-foot-long shark, whose death follows the euthanization [sic] of a beluga whale named Gasper at the aquarium Jan. 2, stopped swimming in his tank Thursday afternoon, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday.

To quote the aquarium's CEO, "Sometimes, nature is that way. It can be cruel in terms of back-to-back tragedies." Nature, you bastard! How could you take Ralph and Gasper from us!?

Idaho's Worst Fears Are Coming True

Am I the only person left who thinks that wolves should be on the endangered species list (ignoring the fact that an "endangered species list" shouldn't exist)?

Apparently I'm not:

Idaho's governor said Thursday he will support public hunts to kill all but 100 of the state's gray wolves after the federal government strips them of protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Am I the only one that thinks that this article reads like a joke? Can he be seriously saying this as a politician?

The 100 surviving wolves would be the minimum before the animals could again be considered endangered.

"I'm prepared to bid for that first ticket to shoot a wolf myself," Otter said earlier Thursday during a rally of about 300 hunters.

Me too.

Otter complained that wolves are rapidly killing elk and other animals essential to Idaho's multimillion-dollar hunting industry. The hunters, many wearing camouflage clothing and blaze-orange caps, applauded wildly during his comments.

Suzanne Stone, a spokeswoman for the advocacy group Defenders of Wildlife in Boise, said Otter's proposal would return wolves to the verge of eradication.

Apparently Suzanne wasn't paying attention at the rally. That's the point.

"Essentially he has confirmed our worst fears for the state of Idaho: That this would be a political rather than a biological management of the wolf population," Stone said. "There's no economic or ecological reason for maintaining such low numbers. It's simple persecution."
God save Idaho! Our worst fears have come to fruition.

"You don't want to be too close to 10 [packs of wolves] because all of a sudden when one (wolf) is hit by a car or taken in defense of property, you're back on the list," Allen said.
Ha ha.

Marine Cpl. Jason Dunham - American Hero

From the New York Daily News:

President chokes up as he honors a war hero

WASHINGTON - President Bush cried yesterday as he presented the Medal of Honor to the family of a New York Marine who dived on a grenade to save his comrades.

Marine Cpl. Jason Dunham of upstate Scio, N.Y., saved at least two lives by his bravery during a struggle with an insurgent near the Syrian border.

The presentation was made during a solemn ceremony in the East Room of the White House before a packed crowd that included Dunham's family and dozens of his fellow Marines in their dress uniforms.

"I've lost my son, but he became a part of history," said Dunham's mother, Deb. "It still hurts as a parent, but the pride that you have from knowing he did the right thing makes it easier."

The President was clearly moved by the moment, and tears streaked down his cheek.

Dunham is the second member of the military to receive the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest award for bravery, in the Iraq war.

I hope you all remember a true hero that died protecting freedom.

Sunnis and Shias Say Good Riddance to British - Or the Exact Opposite

From the [UK] Telegraph:

Sunnis and Shias appeal for British to stay on
By Thomas Harding in Az Zubayr, southern Iraq

Iraqi leaders yesterday condemned Britain's decision to withdraw troops saying it would lead to a bloodbath and ethnic cleansing.

After The Daily Telegraph revealed that troop numbers would be reduced by almost 3,000 to 4,500 at the end of May and withdrawn to a single base outside Basra, local party chiefs were shocked to discover that they were about to be abandoned.

They asked that Tony Blair keep British troops in the towns to prevent the slaughter and forced expulsion of thousands of Sunnis, the minority in the Shia dominated south.

The Prime Minister has always promised that Britain would never leave Iraq "until the job is done".

The town of Az Zubayr is unique in Iraq in that its 60,000 Sunni residents live in harmony with the 460,000 Shias. People from the two Islamic branches live next door to each other, a state of affairs unthinkable in Baghdad. "The decision to withdraw is wrong and the British have the responsibility to protect us," said Sheik Abdul Kareem Al Dusari. "The situation in Az Zubayr is good now because the rogue militias are asleep but if the British leave they will awaken."

Anyway, you get the point. What the local party chiefs and various other Iraqi leaders meant to say was, "Good riddance Zionist pigs. It's about time you ended your imperialist dominance."

The rest of the story can be found here.

Jack Bauer

I know most of these are old, but there still funny. And since the premiere of 24, season six is less than 3 days, 1 hour, 14 minutes and 12 seconds away (not that I'm counting), I thought you all may need to be reminded of some basic facts about Jack bauer.

When bad things happen to good people, its probably fate. When bad things happen to bad people, it’s probably Jack Bauer.

When a convicted terrorist was sentenced to face Jack Bauer, he appealed to have the sentence reduced to death.

Jack Bauer never retreats, he just attacks in the opposite direction.

The 2007 budget for the US Military covers Jack Bauer, two pistols and four billion rounds of ammunition. [Let's see the Dems cut that]
Once, someone tried to tell Jack Bauer a "knock knock" joke. Jack Bauer found out who was there, who they worked for, and where the damn bomb was.

Passed out, surrounded by terrorists and nerve gas, and handcuffed to a table leg, Jack Bauer laughed to himself and said, "I have them right where I want them."

If Jack Bauer was in a room with Hitler, Stalin, and Nina Meyers, and he had a gun with 2 bullets, he'd shoot Nina twice.

Jack Bauers calender goes from March 31st to April 2nd, no one fools Jack Bauer.

Only Jack Bauer can fly a plane from the luggage compartment.

Jack Bauer sleeps with a pillow under his gun.

If Jack Bauer gives you his word, return it immediately and run.

When Kim Bauer lost her virginity, Jack Bauer found it and put it back.

If it tastes like chicken, looks like chicken, and feels like chicken, but Jack Bauer says its beef. Then it's [explitive deleted] beef.

When Christopher Henderson tried to shoot Jack, his gun was, in fact, loaded. The bullets were just too scared to come out.

If Jack Bauer's gun jams, it's because he wanted to beat you with it.

Jack Bauer could strangle you with a cordless phone.

It's no use crying over spilt milk... Unless that was Jack Bauer's milk. Oh you are so screwed.

Jack Bauer once won a game of Connect 4 in 3 moves.

Jack Bauer once opened a can of whoop ass. All he found inside was a mirror.

Going to China is all part of Jack Bauer's master plan to rid the world of Communism.

Jack Bauer is the leading cause of death in Middle Eastern men.

Tony was once shot in the neck, rushed to the hospital, underwent emergency surgery and was back on the job in just a few hours. Jack Bauer still can't believe that pussy went to the hospital first.

In 96 hours, Jack Bauer has killed 93 people and saved the world 4 times. What the Hell have you done with your life?

Don't ever ask Jack Bauer what is going on. He'll explain in the car.

Jack Bauer doesn't take fingerprints, he takes fingers.

In the 18 months where Jack Bauer was presumed dead, Tony Almeida was put in a coma, Michelle and David Palmer were killed, a major hurricane raveged the Gulf Coast, and Rob Schneider made another movie. See what happens when Bauer isn't around?

Jack Bauer wasn't born, he was unleashed.

In high school Jack Bauer was voted "Most Likely to Kill the Foreign Kid"... and "Best Eyes."

Jack Bauer has never caught a cold. How do we know? Colds still exist.
My favorite:
There have been no terrorist attacks in United States since Jack Bauer has appeared on television.
I stole those all from this site.

So, That Didn't Go According To Plan...

"A must see [video] for would-be jihadis," via Jawa: "Jihadi Home Movie: Don't forget to stop rolling tape when you get killed edition!"

It's always sad when someone dies. Unless they're asshole Jihadists, that is! I won't warn you about the "graphic" content, Rusty does that in the post.

The Burqini - For Modest Muslim Women

Are you an oppressed Muslim woman who would like to enjoy all the fun of the swimming pool or beach, but wish to avoid being murdered by your husband for offending Allah?

Well now you can, with the "BURQINI"!

The Burqini is "made in Australia with quality high performance innovative fabrics," " [the manufacturers of the burqini] have added heat pressed prints on the front of the tops for a little extra modesty to the chest area," so not to worry about being satanic by tempting helpless, lustful Muslim men.

Here's the "slim fit":

The image “http://www.ahiida.com/img/products/thumbs/175-564-1150686176.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

What? Too immodest? Reminds you of those whore-women living in the Great Satan?

Here's the "Modest Fit":

The image “http://www.ahiida.com/img/products/thumbs/182-216-1150944185.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Look how happy she looks. Now as long as you don't fight off a group of men trying to rape - or don't fight them off, that would also be sinful - then you no longer need to fear being crushed by a stone wall under the order of Sharia law.

But seriously. Is anyone else getting sick of the misogyny in the Muslim world? No wonder those terrorists hate us. We have all of the hot chicks.

(Leave it to LGF to find this gem.)

US Forces Storm Iranian Consulate

We've stormed an Iranian consulate building in Iraq, seizing papers and arresting six workers (Hat tip: LGF). Probably had something to do with their deep involvement in Iraqi Jihad. Said the story:

One Iranian MP said it showed America’s cruelty and meanness.

Cry me a river, moron. "Cruelty and meanness?" What are we, third graders. You want cruelty and meanness, what was it your leader said again? Oh yeah:

The basic problem in the Islamic world is the existence of the Zionist regime, and the Islamic world and the region must mobilise to remove this problem.

More Smoker's Oppression - In DC

Nancy Pelosi is starting her effective run as House speaker, by banning smoking in the Capitol Building. Now if legislators want a smoke break during votes (more likely with the stress of having to listen to Pelosi's inane rambling) they'll be forced outside to a freezing balcony (but not within 25 feet of an entrance, that's forbidden!)

Pelosi cites "unquestionable" scientific evidence that second hand smoke kills, probably about as accurate as "unquestionable" scientific evidence that global warming exists. So as long as we're using fuzzy logic, here's some that is at least common sense (via Cigars & Theology):

All claims of the EPA and anti-smoking crowd depend for their general acceptance on the credibility of those disseminating them and upon the inability of the typical listener to perform simple sanity checks using common sense and arithmetic.

The simplest check is this: it takes 20 years or more for damage (cancer, emphysema, etc.) to manifest itself in a smoker. ETS is hundreds of times more diluted than the smoke that enters the smokers’ mouth (unless you happen to perform mouth-to-mouth for some reason). Non smokers would have to live with ETS for upwards of 2,000 years to incur the same damage.

Here’s another easy test of truth: Smoke from charcoal contains many of the same components as those most feared in tobacco smoke (carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, carcinogens and so forth). A ten-pound bag of charcoal produces as much smoke (and harmful chemicals) as 160 packs of cigarettes. Are you going to quit barbecuing? Probably not. Yet the slightest whiff of tobacco smoke gives many anti-smokers apoplectic fits. Are they being hysterical?

Once again, libs are cracking down on people's rights based on their flawed, "scientific" logic.

ObviousHeadline - Too Good to Be True

Here's an update for my "Obvious Headline of the Day" from earlier today, which was "Hamas leader says Israel's existence is a reality".

Well now Hamas is denying that Khaled Meshal said anything about recognizing Israel, and spoke only of a cease fire with the non-entity.

I think what's more likely here is that Khaled spoke a little too soon, without getting the go-ahead from the party, not that al-Reuters is known for their accuracy either.

Ace of Spades Wiki Entry

Well, I was really bored so I updated Ace of Spades HQ's Wikipedia entry. A blog of that caliber really deserved a better entry. I did my best to expand it past a stub.

Yeah, I know... I'm a loser. But seriously, the entry sucked! It would help if Ace weren't so anonymous...

Why the Left Loves Chavez

Hugo Chavez, ever the moderate and - consequently - darling to the left, was just sworn in for another six-year term as President in Venezuela. His plans for the new term?

One: Strip the private TV network (which is also in opposition to his totalitarian leadership) of their license, two: take over private companies owned by foreign investors and three: a must for any would-be (gonna-be) dictator, scrap presidential term limits. He will also take away the central banks autonomy.

Meanwhile, in things-you-say-that-will-get-you-murdered-or-put-in-a-gulag news:

"Chavez interprets the election result as giving him a blank check to develop a program that runs against the interests of Venezuela and only serves to benefit himself," Omar Barboza, a leading opposition official, told Reuters.

To read that rest of the story, filled with interesting facts about Chavez love of socialism, read it here.

Mexisota

Drudge has a story about some school children who were kicked off a bus - in America (Minesota, I believe) - for speaking English.

Rachel Armstrong sent her kids to pick up the bus as usual Monday, but after the driver let the kids on, he told them he would not pick them up again. He even said he wouldn't take them home that afternoon.

Armstrong left work early Tuesday, forced to pick up her kids from Phalen Lake Elementary School.

Her twin girls, 10, and her son, 8, were kicked off their regular school bus. They were told by the bus driver the route is for non-English speaking students only.

"I was furious. I was at work and I was just mad." Armstrong said. "I felt like we were being discriminated because we speak English. Just because they speak English, they can't ride the school bus. I mean, this is America, right?"

Administrators at St. Paul Public Schools admit the district made a mistake when it stranded the kids at school Monday.

Someone ought to inform Miss Armstrong that she no longer lives in America, but in what is now afectionately called Mexisota. And although the school district apologized - only for stranding the children - they will no longer be able to ride the bus.

I guess he's just your average Jihadist, as given away by the "loveaffair with [a] Horse." Following in the footsteps of Mohhamed...

Group of Singers Attacked for Singing Star-Spangeled Banner, In SF.

It's stories like this that made you wish the San Andreas fault were moving West:

Members of the Baker's Dozen, the renowned, all-male a cappella singing group from Yale, are pummeled outside a New Year's Eve party after singing "The Star-Spangled Banner."

The attackers allegedly include graduates from Sacred Heart Cathedral, one of the city's oldest and best-known private schools.

...

The 16 singers showed up late to the party wearing preppy sport jackets and ties, and launched into "The Star-Spangled Banner."

A couple of uninvited guests started mocking them, and allegedly the words "faggot" and "homo" were tossed -- and so were a couple of punches.

The loud noise drew relatives from next door, who promptly ordered the house cleared.

The Yale kids, most of whom were staying with a family a block away, began heading home.

But witnesses said one of the uninvited guests -- who happens to be the son of a prominent Pacific Heights family -- pulled out his cell phone and said, "I'm 20 deep. My boys are coming."

According to Rapagnani and others, the Yale kids barely made it around the corner when they were intercepted by a van full of young men.

"They were surrounded, then tripped -- and when they were on the ground, they were kicked," Rapagnani said.

According to police reports, the cops arrived about 12:40 a.m. to find 20 people fighting in the street.

To the police, who were out in force to keep a lid on New Year's, it looked like just another drunken brawl.

But according to Rapagnani, "This was not a fight -- it was an attack."

Four of the alleged assailants were detained at the scene, then released after the cops took their names.

Meanwhile, Sharyar Aziz Jr. was taken by paramedics to San Francisco General Hospital, and later had to undergo reconstructive surgery in New York for a broken jaw that will remain wired shut for eight weeks.

Another unidentified Yale student sought treatment for a concussion, and a third for a swollen ankle and other abrasions.

...

Now authorities want the Yale students -- who have left San Francisco and will soon be back in school -- to return to the city to identify their attackers.

But dad Aziz said arranging their return won't be easy.

"The kids are scared s -- less of coming back to San Francisco,'' he said. "I'm just really frustrated.'

A few things: one, only in a city that outlaws guns and military recruiting, while at the same time celebrating homosexuality, bigamy, beastiality and various other forms of debauchery, do you get violent atacks on patriots in which the attackers scream homophobic slurs. Two, what the Hell does "I'm 20 deep mean?" and three, what's the world coming to when there are people "scared s---tless of coming back to San Francisco" for reasons other than disease?

Sick. These people had better be convicted.

I here tell that there are pictures and video here, for people who are interested.

Ultramontane, 6.37pm: Seems to me this could easily have been an intended "hate" crime against gays. They are an all male a cappella group who were wearing "preppy sport jackets and ties," plus the words "faggot" and "homo" were thrown around. However, it is San Fransisco, and the attackers were preps, so the intended target was more likely patriots than gays.

Obvious Headline of the Day

What's obvious about this headline is what the heathen Muslim (pardon the redundancy) was finally able to catch on to:

Hamas leader says Israel's existence is a reality
I would like to be the first to congratulate Khaled Meshaal on being the only Arab on record as noticing that there's a pesky little country over there in the Middle East, a fact that has escaped most Muslims, who wonder who in the world it was that beat their asses in the several wars that Israel has fought in.

Of course, Khaled Meshaal has to be measured in his obviousness, adding the condition that a Palestinian state has to be created before Israel gets "formal recognition." If there isn't a Palestinian state yet, what the Hell is Palestine doing with all of that land Israel - I mean "the demonic non-entity" - gave them?

I didn't read the story past the first paragraph, but you can here.

-- Update, 9:03 am --

Hamas is now denying that Khaled ever said he would acknowledge Israel, here's a post on that.

More Oil News

The price for a barrel of oil has dropped to its lowest in 18 months, $54. The cause is apparently, in part, a warmer winter meaning less oil use for home heating.

At Least 100 Dead In Baghdad Amid Fierce Fighting

Fierce fighting has erupted in Baghdad with at least 100 people killed , including around 50 Islamo-fascists.

More On Smoker Oppression

Apparently Bangor, ME has banned smoking in one's own car when children are present. They're not the first, either. Of course, it's common sense not to smoke in an enclosed car with children present, but the government figures it better step in and be everyone's parent. Thanks nanny state!

Man = Monkey

More liberal crap: "Zoo Puts Humans On Display." That'll really make me think!

Saddam Fluff Piece: He Was Sooooo Brave!

Here's a horrible fluff piece (via, al-Reuters) about how composed Saddam was in the face of his vengeful execution: turning down tranquilizers, offering a Cuban cigar to a US guard, and upping his exercises routine. Why one would bother being in shape moments before their soul was ripped from their body, unrecognizably charred, and destroyed as chaff before a gale in Hell, I can't figure out?

Drudge: 'US Airstrikes on Al-Qaeda -- in Africa...'

I almost forgot! We bombed Al-Quaeda in Somalia. Reports are that "many are dead," although it's not clear whether there were significant civilian casualties, or the many dead were terrorists. Our primary targets were those involved in the bombing of our embassies in 1998. I liked this line:

The US "has a right to bombard terrorist suspects who attacked its embassies in Kenya and Tanzania," the Somali president, Abdullahi Yusuf, told journalists in Mogadishu.

You're damn right we do! I'm glad someone finally gets it!

Zahn Rips CAIR A New One

Gotta love this video from LGF of Paula Zahn ripping CAIR an new one. Who knows - with Glenn Beck's recent work - maybe CNN's getting some cajones (but probably not).

More fascist stomping of smokers' rights in the UK: "UK Couple Faces Smoking Probe In Own Home." Apparently the neighbor alleges she can smell smoke in her living room. Cry me a river!

Putin Denys The EU Oil

More strong-arming from Putin; this time he's denying the EU oil in an apparent "substitute for diplomatic policy." The EU is wondering whether they can trust Putin to provide them with oil. I wouldn't trust Putin with anything...

Can A Catholic Be A Democrat?

By: Shane

I was recently given a book called " Can a Catholic be a Democrat?" To tell you the truth, I probably won't read the book (although I hear good things about it), because it's bound to be 220 pages of "no."

Is this a question that really needs asking, "can a devout Catholic be a faithful Democrat?" I think we all know the answer. The Church has 5 non-negotiable issues. Any candidate that supports these issues cannot be supported or voted for by a Catholic, simple as that. To do so would be a sin. What are these five non-negotiable issues? To list them off sounds like one is reading the Democratic platform: embryonic stem cell research, gay marriage, abortion, euthanasia, and human cloning.

Notice the absence of "war for oil," the death penalty, and tax cuts.

The Dems have continued to support embryonic stem cell research, despite the fact that it has yet to show any hint of promise for curing diseases, because it furthers their baby-killing agenda. Life is cheap to liberals, and to create any benefit from the destruction of unborn life is to further prop up their barbaric need for what is ultimately the "right" to promiscuous, risk-free sex (aka, abortion).

The Dems have shown again and again that, against the will of the US public, they will support gay marriage with every ounce of effort they posses. Many feel gay marriage cost John Kerry the 2004 election. Dems have no respect for the institution of marriage and will sell it out to any and every gay, bigamist, or animal lover that will give them a vote.

As far as abortion goes, the Dems have religiously protected this "right" (and that's about the only thing they'll do religiously) since the first woman was "forced" to kill her unborn child with a coat hanger. The Dems put this issue above all else, and will not budge on it. They flat-out support the murder of unborn children.

The Dems showed us all a while back that euthanasia wasn't just a dream of theirs when they had Terri Schiavo starved to death against her mother and father's wishes. Adding to the "can a Democrat be a Catholic" argument, they wouldn't even allow a dieing Schiavo a measly crumb of Holy Eucharist.

Can a Catholic be a Democrat? Sure. But will that Dem be a Catholic in way other than name? Certainly not. The Democratic party's platform is almost in complete contradiction to the teachings of the Catholic faith (with the exception, perhaps, of Catholic Social Teaching, which fits perfectly due to it's heavy borrowing from Socialism). All five of the Catholic church's non-negotiable issues seem to be taken directly from the Democratic party's platform. To vote Democrat is, in almost all cases, wrong and against Church teachings. "Catholic" politicians such as Nancy Pelosi (D, CA) and Jennifer Granholm (D, MI) should be excommunicated for their support of abortion.

Can a devout Catholic be a faithful Democrat? Absolutely not!

Charges Dropped Against Dead Saddam

Saddam may be dead (hanged for his killing of 148 Shites), but his co-conspirators are still on trial for the genocide of 180,000 Kurds. Iraqi court reconvened and dropped all murder and genocide charges against Saddam (since he's dead), but there are still men who need to be brought to justice, including Saddam's cousin, "Chemical Ali," for the genocide of hundreds of thousands of people.

Of course, the story wouldn't be complete without mention of Saddam's "chaotic" execution that has "drawn global criticism." Boo-hoo.

Round Up

I'm in a hurry for now, so here's a few links to some stories that caught my eye:

An article from the NYT: Fatah Holds Rally in Gaza City Stadium,

One from al-Reuters: Polish archbishop resigns in spying row

One from Independent online, staying with the Roman Catholicism theme: Spanish bishops fear rebirth of Islamic kingdom,

and our friends over at LGF with a story of Political Correctness run amok in France: Breaking: Pork Soup Racist Again in France.

Hope this will do for now. I'm off to play some racquetball now, and I'll try and post more in depth later on tonight.

Economy Still Booming ...

From Reuters:

U.S. job growth was surprisingly strong in December and pay jumped, according to a government report on Friday that may fan policy-makers' concern that a strong job market could ignite inflation.

The Labor Department said 167,000 jobs were created last month and also revised up hiring for each of the two preceding months. The unemployment rate in December was 4.5 percent, unchanged from November.

Wall Street economists had forecast that only 100,000 new jobs would be created in December, so the report painted a picture of a healthier job market and potentially stronger expansion than anticipated as 2006 ended.

With the Dems taking control of the House and Senate Reuters can safely run headlines like these, but they still couldn't resist throwing in the "concern" over inflation.

The rest of the article, if you care.

Obvious Headline of the Day

From our friends at the New York Times:

Top Democrats Oppose More Troops in Iraq
But don't worry, they "want to do everything [they] can to help Iraq succeed in the future," they just don't want it to come at any cost or effort.

Palestinian Civil War

al-Reuters:

Unidentified gunmen shot dead a Muslim cleric after he delivered a sermon in the Gaza Strip on Friday calling for an end to fierce factional fighting between Hamas and Fatah, hospital officials and local residents said.
Meanwhile, the MSM refuses to use the words "civil war" and "Palestine" in the same story - an honor reserved for Iraq, which, to them, is constantly descending into civil war. When the fighting occurs between Palestinians it's "internal fighting."

Ellison Uses Thomas Jefferson's Quran

From the AP fluff piece, "Ellison Uses Thomas Jefferson's Quran":

Keith Ellison made history Thursday, becoming the first Muslim member of Congress and punctuating the occasion by taking a ceremonial oath with a Quran once owned by Thomas Jefferson.

...

The Quran was acquired in 1815 as part of a more than 6,400-volume collection that Jefferson sold for $24,000 to replace the congressional library that had been burned by British troops the year before, in the War of 1812. Jefferson, the nation's third president, was a collector of books in all topics and languages.

Ellison, the first black member of Congress from Minnesota, was born in Detroit and converted to Islam in college. He said earlier this week that he chose to use this Quran because it showed that a visionary like Jefferson believed that wisdom could be gleaned from many sources.

I his book "American Sphinx: The Character of Thomas Jefferson" Joseph Ellis describes Thomas Jefferson encountering the Religion of Peace:

Several muslim countries along the North African coast had established the tradition of plundering the ships of European and American merchants in the western Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic, capturing the crews and then demanding ransom from the respective governments for their release. In a joint message to their superiors in Congress, Adams and Jefferson described the audacity of these terrorist attacks, pirates leaping onto defenseless ships with daggers clenched in their teeth. They had asked the ambassador from Tripoli, Adams and Jefferson explained, on what grounds these outrageous acts of unbridled savagery could be justified: "The Ambassador answered us that it was founded on the laws of the prophet, that it was written in their koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their [islams] authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners....
It looks like the "wisdom" that Thomas Jefferson "gleaned" from Islam was that Muslims will use the Quran to justify their barbaric behavior.

Today in Immigration

Drudge links to a story about American Guardsman being attacked at the Mexican border:

A U.S. Border Patrol entry Identification Team site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's border with Mexico.

According to the Border Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's West Desert Region around 11 p.m. The site is manned by National Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat.
Meanwhile, in California:

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will propose that all Californian children, including those in the state illegally, be guaranteed medical insurance as part of the health-care overhaul he intends to unveil next week, according to officials familiar with the plan.
Spectacular.

Morroccan Who Abetts the Murder of Thousands Claims Trial Unfair

From Reuters' "9/11 hijacker friend seeks halt to sentence hearing"

Lawyers representing a Moroccan friend of the September 11 hijackers demanded on Friday the suspension of a hearing to decide his sentence for being an accessory to mass murder.

Mounir El Motassadeq, a member of a group of radical Arab students in Hamburg who organized the 2001 attacks in which nearly 3,000 people died, faces up to 15 years in prison.

...

Motassadeq, 32, who was in court on Friday, is one of only two people convicted of involvement in the September 11 attacks.

The other is Zacarias Moussaoui, a French citizen of Moroccan descent who was sentenced to life imprisonment by a U.S. court in May 2006.

Germany's top appeals court in Karlsruhe found Motassadeq guilty last November of abetting the murder of 246 passengers and crew who died on four planes that crashed on September 11.

So this guy has been convicted of abetting mass murder of Americans, and he "faces up to 15 years in prison"? God forbid. He should hang.

Hanged in a "more dignified way"

Reports al-Reuters:

President Bush said Saddam Hussein could have been hanged in a "more dignified way" and one his closest Arab allies said on Friday a video of Shi'ite officials taunting him on the gallows was "barbaric".

Apparently killing someone in a "dignified way" without being "barbaric" looks like this:

In case your curious that's a dead Kurdish woman and her dead baby after Saddam had them gassed.

Saddam's hanging could have been more "dignified," but seeing as he's now in eternal Hell, I think being taunted by his executioners is the least of his worries.

Obama on Life and Crime

Barack Obama has been the media's cause célèbre lately because he's the biggest liberal with what they perceive to be the best shot of winning the presidential election in 2008.

This post focuses on Obama's pitiful record on abortion, capital punishment and punishing sex offenders.

Abortion:

Barack Obama is actually against the " Born Alive Infant Protection Act" (having failed to support it on four occasions) which states, in part:

... the term ''born alive'', with respect to a member of the species homo sapiens, means the complete expulsion or extraction from his or her mother of that member, at any stage of development, who after such expulsion or extraction breathes or has a beating heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, regardless of whether the umbilical cord has been cut, and regardless of whether the expulsion or extraction occurs as a result of natural or induced labor, cesarean section, or induced abortion.

In other words, not only does Barack Hussein Obama believe that an unborn child is not a living thing, he believes that until you cut the umbilical cord that thing that just came out of that woman has absolutely no rights - including a right to life. This law passed the U.S. Senate 98-0 (before Obama was a senator).

Death Penalty:

Being the hypocritical liberal that Obama is, he protects the life of murderous gang members more than those of newly-born infants. He voted against that " Severo Anti-Gang Amendments of 2001" in the IL State House. The bill sought to qualify gang members that murdered first responders for the death penalty (Obama was one of only nine to vote against the bill).

Punishing Sexual Predators:

No other group of criminals have proven themselves to be more vial and un-reformable as sexual predators. It stands to reason that the representatives of the American people have enacted tough laws to not only keep them off of our streets, but to punish them for the heinous things they've done. That's why it's so outrageous that Barack Obama was the only senator in Illinois to vote against SB 485, a bill that sought to deny sexual predators early release for "good behavior".

The summary of SB 485 reads:

Amend the County Jail Good Behavior Allowance Act. Provides that a person in a county jail may not receive a good behavior allowance if he or she is convicted of criminal sexual assault in which the victim was under 18 years of age at the time of the offense and he or she was a family member or if he or she is convicted of criminal sexual abuse or aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Effective immediately.

No wonder Obama supports abortions-in-the-case-of
-incest-and-rape*, he has to fix the damage from when he votes against the laws that prevent incest and rape.

*(you'll only hear a liberal say the word "abortion" if "in-the-case-of-incest-and-rape" is attached. Otherwise they use the term "choice," usually connected to the word "right.")

"It Will Be A Miracle If There Isn't A Terror Attack Over The Holidays In London"

Via Drudge: "London Braces for Attack; 'Miracle' If There Isn't One:"

British intelligence and law enforcement officials have passed on a grim assessment to their U.S. counterparts, "It will be a miracle if there isn't a terror attack over the holidays in London," a senior American law enforcement official tells ABCNews.com...

"It is not a matter of if there will be an attack, but how bad the attack will be," an intelligence official told ABCNews.com.

Freedom Towers Go Up

Construction on the Freedom Tower has begun at Ground Zero with the placement of huge steel columns. I still wish they'd just rebuild the WTC towers, but anything's better than nothing...

A Christmas Greeting From Al-Zawahri

Hat tip to LGF for this video from Scrppleface. Funny, but a good message, too. Wouldn't the world be better if we were all Christians? The world will never be perfect, but there's no denying it's be a better place if everyone just loved God and one another:

Dear Senator Harkin

Got this via email (it said it was an actual letter to a Senator, but who knows), I found it funny and informative:

Dear Senator Harkin,
As a native Iowan and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue
Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted
the Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the
process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.
My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S.
Citizen to illegal alien stems from the bill which was recently passed by the
Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's provisions
is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years,
all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes
for three of the last five years. I know a good deal when I see one and I am
anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out. Simply put,
those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so
I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of taxes in return for
paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively?
This would yield an excellent result for me and my family because we paid heavy
taxes in 2004 and 2005. Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the
local emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have stopped
paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could save
almost $10,000 a year. Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my
daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school
applications, as well as "in-state" tuition rates for many colleges throughout
the United States for my son. Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve
me of the burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome car
insurance premiums. This is very important to me given that I still have college age
children driving my car. If you would provide me with an outline of the process to
become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I
would be most appreciative. Thank you for your assistance.

Donald Ruppert

Torture Can Be Hell

Those poor terrorists have it so tough:

Robert Gates Takes Oath Of Office

Hat tip to Hot Air, here's the video of Robert Gates being sworn in as Secretary of Defense:

Break In The Hunt For OBL

Political Pit Bull reports on some big breaks in the hunt for Osama - the capture of a Pakistani with AQ ties who may have once been OBL's personal escort. I have to agree with Ace on this one: "Waterboard him. Hell, cut off his g[**]damn fingers. Let's stop f[***]ing about."

Rap-Metal Against Jihad

Gotta give LGF another hat tip for this great video (I just can't turn down videos!) A rap-metal group, rapping against violent Islam. Here's Mojo with "Open Season:"

(Profanity warning for you sissies)

Here're the lyrics:

I speak peace when peace is spoken, But I speak war when your hate is provoking, The season is open 24-7-365, Man up yo time to ride, No need to hide behind slogans of deceit, Claiming that you're a religion of peace, We just don't believe you, We can clearly see through, The madness that you're feeding your people, Jihad the cry of your unholy war, Using the willing, the weak and poor, From birth drowning in propaganda, rhetoric and slander, All we can say is damn ya

My forefathers fought and died for this here
I'm stronger than your war of fear
Are we clear?
If you step in my hood
It's understood
It's open season

I don't need a faith that's blind, Where death and hate bring me peace of mind, With views that are stuck deep in the seventh century, So much sand in your eyes to blind to see, The venom that you leaders preach, Is the path to your own destruction, Your own demise, You might say that I don't understand but your disgust for me is what I realize, Surprise!
Your homicidal ways has got the whole world watching, Whole world scoping, So if you bring it to my home base, Best believe it, The season's open

I see you, Hell yeah I see you, Motherfucker naw, I don't wanna be you, If you come to my place, I'll drop more than just some bass, Yo you'll get a taste of a, Sick motherfucker from the Dirty, I ain't worrying not a fucking bit, I'm telescoping like Hubble, Yo you in trouble, Yo on the double, I'm wild with mine, Bring that style with mine, Fuck with my family I'll end your line, Just the way it is, Just the way it be, Do you understand? No matter if you're woman or man, or child, My profile is crazy, That shit you do doesn't amaze me, I'm ready to blaze thee

I don't give a damn what god you claim, I've seen the innocent that you've slain, On my streets you're just fair game, Like a pig walk to your slaughter, The heat here is so much hotter, And my views won't teeter totter or fluctuate, Step to me you just met your fate, And I'll annihilate, With the skill of a Shogun assassin, Slicing and dicing precise with a passion, In any shape form or fashion, Bring it to my home, Welcome to the danger zone, Cause your attitude's the reason, The triggers keep squeezing, The hunt is on and it's open season

It's Open Season

Four Days Without A Post!

Boy; four days without a post! Sorry about that... I guess mostly I've just been lazy, but I do have fish to take care of, family to visit, gifts to buy, fiddle to practice, and (finally) some leisure time to enjoy. I'll try to pick up the pace on the posts, but if I don't soon, I'm sure I will after New Year's.

Bush Awards Natan Sharansky The Medal Of Freedom

President Bush has awarded Natan Sharansky the highest civilian honor, the Medal of Freedom:

Natan Sharansky spent nine years in a Soviet gulag for working to advance religious liberties and human rights in the former Soviet Union.

President Bush says Sharansky remains a powerful champion of the principles that all people deserve to live in freedom, and that the advance of liberty is critical to world peace and security. "Today, the Soviet Union is history, but the world still knows the name Sharansky," said the president. "As a free man, he's become a political leader in Israel, winning four elections to the Knesset, and serving more than eight years in the Cabinet. He remains, above all, an eloquent champion for liberty and democracy."

Sharansky authored one of my favorite books (which I am currently in the middle of) The Case For Democracy, which talks about what is now known as the "Bush Doctrine," the spreading of free societies throughout the world to obtain world peace.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Seriously Ill?

Pajamas Media reports that Ayatollah ali Khamenei is seriously ill, possibly on his death bed:

Khamenei first complained of chills, and then broke out in a cold sweat. He lay down to rest, and began to lose feeling in his feet, at which point his aides got him to the hospital.

Amidst maximum security, and under orders that the event be kept secret at all costs, the theocrat was placed in one of the luxurious suites reserved for the country's most important figures. Khamenei'’s blood pressure and pulse were alarmingly low, and his physicians at first feared some sort of hemorrhage. But they could find no trace of internal bleeding, and concluded that he had had some sort of cardiac crisis.

LGF points out that this could mean more power for Ahmadinejad and his cronies, not a good thing since he aims to destroy the rest of the world, as opposed to Khamenei who mostly focuses on destroying his own people...

Ebola Virus Kills 5,000 Gorillas, Says Study

Well, at least the Ebola virus is good for something: the AFP reports that the deadly virus has killed off about 5,000 gorillas. Gorillas are right up there on my list of "enemy animals" with sharks, elephants, cougars (the worst of the bunch), and bears.

More slow news day evidence ...

Here's some more evidence that it's a slow news day; the big , bold headline on Drudge:

FLATULENCE FORCES AMERICAN AIRLINES PLANE TO LAND

God help us.

Slow News Day

Just wanted to let you know I'm not lazy, it's a slow news day. Michelle Malkin has a post about good kid-tested, mother-aproved toys and LGF has a 12 minute Iranian sci-fi clip up, so I'm not the only one feeling the slow-news-day-pain.

Here's something to read: aparently Andy Roonie is mad that a "racist" rant is being attributed to him and distributed online. I got it a while ago (via email) and found it pretty funny:

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the UnitedCaucasianCollege Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

[...]

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling, it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry ass if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor.

[...]

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"

[...]

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else...

NYC Bans Trans Fats

More rights fly out the window in NYC, where trans fats have now been banned in restaurants. Can someone say "slippery slope?" First smoking, now trans fats. What next? Candy, full-contact sports, or anything else enjoyable that the government could deem too dangerous is at risk. But hey, it's all for our own good...

Illegals Murder 12 Americans Daily

A disgusting story from Hot Air, "Illegal aliens murder 12 Americans daily:"

Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. ThatÂ’s 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.

Apparentlyy Captain Ed is questioning the veracity of this story, but even if it's off a little, we know illegals kill Americans. We know it happens quite often. I've put the stories on this blog, and Michelle Malkin has done a good job of posting them, too.

The fact is, not all illegals are just dads trying to scrape by to send money home to their starving children. A lott of them are violent criminals. How many Americans should we let die before we do something about it?

John Bolton Will Step Down From UN Post

Looks like the libs are succeeding in their efforts to completely hamstring America's foreign relations capabilities,\; John Bolton has announce he will step down. Here's an interesting quote from the story:

Critics have questioned BoltonÂ’s brusque style and whether he could be an effective public servant who could help bring reform to the U.N.

That makes about as much sense as, well, as any argument liberals try to make... Bolton is tough on the UN and doesn't give them everything they want, and this means he wouldn't help the process of bringing accountability and sense back to the UN? If that's true than maybe the libs should give GW everything he wants, you know, to bring accountabilityy back to the Executive Branch...

If the one person willing to stand up to the UN is gone, how are we to expect they'll change? And when we replace Bolton with some sissy who pats the UN on the back while they rape children, ignore tyrants andcondemnn Israel, that will bring reform? Let's see how that goes...

Slow Posting

Man, I didn't realize how long it's been since I've posted. My apologies. I'll get back at it on Monday. Until then, here's a good one from Cox & Forkum:
